Lesson Three – Mosques

This religious education teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate, describe and record some of the special ways that Muslims use mosques to practise and observe beliefs in the Islamic religion.

The class can practise labelling an illustration of a Mosque to identify the different sections and areas and explain how and why they are used by followers of Islam.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe different parts of a mosque as used by the followers of Islam and differentiated sets of cards to match and label the names and functions of each of the different parts of a mosque.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record how Muslims use mosques to practise and observe beliefs in the Islamic religion.

This lesson is part of a religious education scheme of work to get the children to explore and illustrate some of the different stories, beliefs and practices of the Islamic religion including special festivals and sacred texts. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
