Lesson Four – Local Church

This religious education teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate, describe and record how churches are the same or different as some of the other buildings that can be found in the local area.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the special objects that can be used inside a church and a worksheet to name and record the location of different objects that can be used by Christians when worshipping and praying to God in a church.

This lesson is part of a religious education scheme of work to get the children to identify and explain the function and importance of churches in communities and describe how Christians use special artefacts to worship God. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
