Lesson Five – Church Services

Activities in this teaching pack include a display poster to identify and describe a special object that can be found inside a Christian church, a shared reading text to explain what happens during a church service when a child is baptised and worksheets to describe how Christians say and use prayers during a church service.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore some of the different services that are performed in a church including christenings.
This lesson is part of a religious education scheme of work to get the children to identify and explain the function and importance of churches in communities and describe how Christians use special artefacts to worship God. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
