Lesson Three – Number Frames

This maths teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explain and model how to use pictorial diagrams to represent the values of different numbers to one hundred that have been listed in both words and digits.

The class can generate some two digit numbers and then record the matching sets of tens and ones that can be combined to make each of the selected numbers.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explain and model how to use pictorial diagrams to represent the values of different numbers to one hundred that have been listed in both words and digits

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of cards to select matching combinations of tens and ones to combine into numbers to one hundred and a template to record the place value of the ones and tens digits that can be found in different two digit numbers.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use diagrams to represent the values of different numbers to one hundred in words and digits.

This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to identify and record the sequence of a selection of two digit numbers by the place value of their numerical digits when representing their order using concrete equipment and diagrams. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
