Tens and Ones Frames

This maths teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explain and illustrate how to use pictorial diagrams to represent the values of different numbers to one hundred recorded in both written words and numerical digits.

The class can generate a selection of two digit numbers and then record the matching pairs of tens and ones that can be combined to make each of the different numbers.

Download this teaching pack including classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explain and illustrate how to use pictorial diagrams to represent the values of different numbers to one hundred recorded in both written words and numerical digits

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of cards to select and build examples of two digit numbers by combining their matching pairs of tens and ones and a template to record the place value of the ones and tens digits that can be found in different two digit numbers.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use diagrams to represent the values of different numbers to one hundred in words and digits.

This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to explore, model and record the place value of the tens and ones digits in a range of different numbers to one hundred. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
