This history teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore and record the history behind the design and construction of the first trains in the past by their engineer inventors.
The class can identify and illustrate one of the first trains that was built in the past and label the different parts that were used in its construction for a range of functions.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to describe the structure of the first trains that were built in the past, a shared reading text to explain how different trains were invented and used in the past and a vocabulary word bank to identify and label different parts of a train that were used in its construction the past.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore the history behind the design and construction of the first trains and their inventors.
This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to explore and illustrate how travel has changed since the past through the invention and development of trains from steam to electric technologies.
