This history scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to identify, describe and compare changes to buildings that have occurred in the school neighbourhood over time. The class can explain how to use primary sources to explore how location and buildings close to school have changed since the past.

Lesson Two : School Changes
Explore, describe and record some of the special improvements and changes that have been made to the school’s building over time

Lesson Three : School Street
Investigate, describe and record some of the improvements and changes that have been made to different buildings that are close to the school

Lesson Four : Post Office
Explore, describe and illustrate some of the improvements and changes that have been made to a post office building that is close to the school

Lesson Five : Shopping Area
Practise identifying and describing some of the improvements and changes that have been made to shops that can be found in the local area

Lesson Six : Town Changes
Explore, describe and compare some of the different changes and improvements that have occurred in the local area over time
