Lesson Five – Holiday Postcards

This history teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate how to identify and record some of the differences between seaside holidays in the past with today by writing example recounts in postcards.

The class can practise composing the text for some example postcards describing what might have happened during a family holiday to the seaside in the past.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe how seaside holidays today are the same or different than similar holidays in the past and a template to select and write recounts to describe holidays to the seaside in the past and today on postcards.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record differences between seaside holidays in the past with today by writing matching recounts.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to describe and compare how families enjoyed seaside holidays together in the past with similar events and experiences enjoyed by families today.
