Lesson Two – Word Meanings

Activities in this teaching pack include a differentiated set of worksheets to practise spelling a range of different words that end in the final phonemes sounds for n and d for support ability levels and for nk and nd for core and extension ability levels to use when describing family households.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore the meanings of different words with the same final phoneme sounds that can be used to describe what can happen in a family.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to investigate and respond to settings, characters and plot events in stories about family life and parents, investigate words with common endings and practise writing sentences for character dialogue. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
