Light and Dark

This English teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to identify, compose and punctuate a range of different questions to research information into the effects of light and dark in the world.
The class can practise writing sentences using the correct punctuation to present the answers to each of the selected questions about how the world is different when it is light and dark.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify the correct punctuation to use when writing different types of sentences, a set of cards for support ability levels to group different sentences about light as either statements or questions and differentiated worksheets for core and extension ability levels to write and punctuate different sentences about light that are either questions or statements.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to compose and punctuate different questions to research into the effects of light and dark.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to practise asking and answering questions using the correct punctuation to investigate and explain how things work in the world. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
