Seaside Sculpture

This art and design scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to select and use natural materials found on a beach to produce some model sculptures on the theme of the seaside. The class can explain how they can join and combine materials to make the shape of a seaside object.

Investigate how to select and imprint special shapes into sand using a range of different tools to reflect ideas and themes about the seaside

Practise working with a range of different beach materials to plan and design a matching sculpture on the theme of the seaside and beaches

Lesson Five : Seaside Art

Explain and model how to build and shape a sculpture to reflect the seaside using some of the special materials that can be found on a beach

Lesson Six : Sculpture Review

Suggest and record additions and improvements to a seaside sculpture that has been produced using a range of different beach materials
