Lesson Three – Sandwich Fillings

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe different types of bread that can be used for sandwiches, a template to record the colour and shape of different foods and evaluate their taste and a vocabulary word bank to make models of foods that could be filled inside a sandwich.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore and describe the taste, shape and appearance of different fillings that can be added to sandwiches for a summer picnic.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to select, identify and prepare different types of foods for a picnic including sandwiches and fruit juice drinks by compiling shopping lists for a class outing. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
