Unit E – Time

This numeracy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to select and use special vocabulary words to describe different periods of time to match family events and experiences. The class can sequence the days of the week and the months of the year into the correct order.

Lesson One : Morning and Evening
Practise using the correct vocabulary words to describe events and experiences that can happen at different times of the day in the school or at home

Lesson Two : Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Identify and describe a range of different school and home events and experiences using matching units of time for special vocabulary words

Lesson Three : Days of the Week
Investigate and record how to sort the seven days of the week into the correct sequence and match related events and experiences

Lesson Four : Days and Weeks
Practise selecting and listing some special events and experiences to match different units of time in the calendar for days and weeks

Lesson Five : Weeks, Months, Years
Identify and sequence some different durations of time for weeks, months and years vocabulary words to link matching events and experiences

Identify the location and function of different objects used in the classroom and explore how to formulate rules to manage the classroom safely

Identify, describe and compare the sequences of geometric shapes that have been used to create a range of different patterns

Read and produce labels to identify and describe items that can be sold in different shops and match initial sounds of words to the correct letters of the alphabet
