School Counting

This numeracy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to explain and model how to count, order and compare the numbers of special tools and equipment that can be used when working in school lessons. The class can use digits and words to show the counted sets of objects.

Book Numbers
Practise counting and ordering sets of classroom fiction and topic books working with different numbers to ten shown in their matching numerical digits

Domino Dots
Explain and model how to count, order and compare the number of dots that can seen on different dominoes working with each of the numbers to ten

School Cupboard
Collect and sort the correct numbers of different pieces of classroom tools and equipment to five, ten and twenty to match their numerical digits

Investigate, describe and model some of the special ways of providing practical, spiritual and emotional support to other pupils in the school

School Pictograms
Explore how to count and record the numbers of different pieces of school equipment that can be found in trays stored around the classroom

Listening Skills
Develop and refine listening skills when practising how to follow commands and instructions when playing games and role-playing actions
