Shape Numbers Counting

This numeracy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to practise playing a paired game to count and match different numbers of shapes and identify and record the matching numerals on the game board.

The class can practise recognising each of the different numbers to ten shown in numbers of shapes to match different numerals in digits to try and win a number game.

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of differentiated worksheets to play paired games matching numbers of counted shapes to the correct numerals in digits shown on the game boards using numbers to five for support ability levels, to ten for core ability levels and to twenty for extension ability levels.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to count different numbers of objects to ten to match the correct numerals in digits when playing a game.

This lesson is part of a numeracy scheme of work to get the children to play a number games to practise counting different numbers of objects and shapes to ten when identifying the matching numeral digits. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
