Lesson Two – Fact or Fiction

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to identify and describe how to read and use some of the different types of texts that can provide facts and information about a range of special animals that live wild in the world.

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of cards to identify matching non-fiction books that can answer different questions about a selection of wild animals and a worksheet to play a matching game to name the next letter for selected letters of the alphabet.

This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to practise finding information in non-fiction books about different animals that live around the world, match the names of animals to the corresponding letters of the alphabet and write simple sentences as captions for pictures of favourite animals. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
