Lesson Two – Fairy Tale Sentences

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to devise and complete a range of different sentences to identify the sequence of events in a fairy tale about Goldilocks and the Three bears.
The class can identify and record the spelling of different cvc words that end in the final phoneme sound of /r/ with matching middle vowel sounds.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe some of the different characters, settings and themes in a traditional story, a set of cards to select and name vocabulary words that can be used to complete different sentences about a traditional story and a worksheet to identify and record how to spell different words that end in the same final phoneme sound.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to complete a range of different sentences to identify the sequence of events in a fairy tale.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to identify and describe common characters, settings and themes used in traditional stories and suggest story changes using role-play and written composition. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
