Lesson Two – Shopping Lists

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to practise reading and creating shopping lists to name some of the different items and products that could be bought when shopping in a supermarket.
The class can identify and make lists of items available in different aisles in a supermarket that begin with the same initial sounds for some of the letters in the alphabet.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to practise reading and creating shopping lists to name some of the different items and products that could be bought when shopping in a supermarket
Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text showing an example list of items that could be bought during a shopping trip to a supermarket and a template to practise writing alphabet letters to match the initial sounds of different types of foods.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to identify and describe how to compile a list of items and products for a specific purpose.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to read and produce labels to identify and describe items that can be sold in different shops and match initial sounds of words to the correct letters of the alphabet. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
