Lesson One – What Shops

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of cards to select and group matching groups of cvc words with the same initial sounds and a template to record a list of items and products that could be bought in a supermarket with matching initial phonemes.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to identify and describe some of the different items that are available to buy from different shops.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to read and produce labels to identify and describe items that can be sold in different shops and match initial sounds of words to the correct letters of the alphabet. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
