Lesson Four – Story Sentences

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to select and record different vocabulary words that can be used when compiling sentences to describe what happened in the traditional story of Hansel and Gretel.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe the sequence and content of narrative events in a traditional story, a set of cards to record vocabulary that can be used to complete sentences related to a traditional story and worksheets to select and use illustrations to record the sequence of events in the story of Hansel and Gretel.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to select vocabulary to use when compiling sentences to describe what happened in a traditional story.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to investigate some of the different characters, settings and plot events used to tell a traditional story and identify letters that match initial sounds of words. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
