Lesson Three – Cooking

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to explore and devise some of the different ways of using water to prepare a range of foods and drinks at home for family meals and snacks.

The class can identify and record some of the different fruits that they are able to taste in a range of cocktail drinks that have been produced by mixing water with each type of fruit.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe different types of drinks that might be drunk at home, a template to record each of the different fruits that they can taste when drinking a range of juices and a set of cards to sort drinks into groups according as to whether they need to be mixed with water before drinking.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore and devise different ways of using water to prepare a range of foods and drinks at home for family meals.

This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to investigate and describe different sources and uses of water at home by families to understand its importance in the world.
