Lesson Six – Weather Quiz

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise searching for and retrieving information from a prepared database about how the weather changes throughout each month of the year.

The class can identity and record some of the common weather patterns that can be experienced for different months of the year using a database record of matching measurements.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to practise searching for and retrieving information from a prepared database about how the weather changes throughout each month of the year

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe common weather patterns for different months of the year, a worksheet for core and extension ability levels to record statements to describe common weather patterns for each month of the year and a set of cards for support ability levels to match months of the year to common weather patterns.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to search for and retrieving information from a prepared database about the weather.

This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to explore and record how to use computer databases to store, organise and interrogate data and information about what is happening in the weather. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
