Lesson One – Story Puppets

This design technology teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate, describe and record some of the different characters that can be used as puppets to tell and perform a special narrative story.

The class can practise rehearsing and performing an example play script to show how some of the characters might act in scenes from a Punch and Judy story.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe how different puppets can be used to tell and perform a story and a worksheet to practise performing a play script to show how some of the characters might act in a Punch and Judy story.

This lesson is part of a design technology scheme of work to get the children to select, shape and combine textile and other materials to make a range of puppet characters that can be used to narrate a traditional story.
