Lesson Four – Beaches

This music teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore how to create and play some different sounds using percussion instruments to represent and model the movement of waves landing on a beach.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and define vocabulary that can be used to describe how waves land on a beach and a template to record sequences of pictures to represent how to play percussion instruments in a composition when modelling the movement of sea waves.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and play some different sounds to represent the movement of waves landing on a beach when using percussion instruments.
This lesson is part of a music scheme of work to get the children to compose and perform a range of musical compositions to reflect movements of sea waves and animals that live on a beach and in the sea. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
