Activities in this teaching pack include sets of cards to identify and record the numbers of pennies that will be left when buying something in a shop with a ten pence coin and a template to display the change that will be received for different shop items with prices to ten pence.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to role-play shopping trips to model how to subtract single digit numbers from ten.

This lesson is part of a numeracy scheme of work to get the children to calculate and record the difference between pairs of numbers to ten by counting back to show numbers of items sold in a shop at the seaside.
