Lesson Two – Word Determinants List

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe the use of alliterative phrases in poetry about things seen and used in a school and differentiated worksheets to make lists of things found in a school by creating alliterative phrases preceded by the correct matching determinants.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use the correct determinants before nouns in alliterative phrases about things seen and used in a school.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to read and write tongue twisters, humorous poems and word play poetry on the theme of schools, identify word roots that can be changed by adding different prefixes and rehearse and perform a poem to the class. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
