Counting Games

This numeracy scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to play a number games to practise counting different numbers of objects and shapes to ten when identifying the matching numeral digits. The class can match numbers in each game that have recorded in digits and words.

Shape Numbers Counting
Practise playing a paired game to count and match different numbers of shapes and identify and record the matching numerals on the game board

Dice Words
Play a game to select and match different numbers that can be shown on dice faces to their written representations that have been recorded in words

Noughts and Crosses Five
Play different number games that can be won by counting different numbers of shapes to five when identifying the matching numeral digits on the game board

Noughts and Crosses Ten
Play different number games that can be won by counting different numbers of shapes to five when identifying the matching numeral digits on the game board

Measurement
Measure, compare and record the mass and capacity of different objects and containers using a range of non-standard measurements

Word Halves
Identify and complete the halves of letters for different cvc words beginning with the initial phoneme sounds for matching alphabet letters

Seaside Subtraction
Calculate and record the difference between pairs of numbers to ten by counting back to show numbers of items sold in a shop at the seaside
