Future Robots

This English teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise writing a range of sentences for use in explanations about how and why robots might perform different functions and jobs in the future to support families.
The class can select and use special vocabulary words to link each of the paragraphs in their explanation of a future robot to describe their special functions.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text identify and describe the format and structure of an explanation text about how a robot works, worksheets to model how retrieve information from an explanation text about a robot and select and record facts about robots that might be invented in the future and a template to compose an explanation text about how and why robots perform different functions.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to compose an explanation about how and why robots might perform different functions and jobs in the future to support families.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to identify and model how to structure and format explanation texts about why and how robots function to complete tasks in the world. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
