Lesson Three – Testing Friction

This science teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate how to conduct and present measurement results from an investigation to explore the link between the force of friction and mass.
The class can practise using a block graph to display and interpret results from their test about how friction can act differently between a range of surface materials.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to investigate how to conduct and present measurement results from an investigation to explore the link between the force of friction and mass
Activities in this teaching pack include a template to plan an investigation to explore the link between gravity and mass and record results using a graph and a worksheet to present and record the results of an investigation between friction and mass.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to conduct and present results from an investigation to explore the link between friction and mass.
This lesson is part of a science scheme of work to get the children to investigate, describe and test the effects of air and water resistance and friction on a range of different objects and materials presenting results using graphs and tables. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
