Lesson One – Moon Rocket

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to learn and define some different vocabulary words associated with the Moon, a shared reading text to identify different true and false facts about space using a concept story and a worksheet and cards to sort and correct some different scientific facts about space that are false.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and describe how rockets can travel through the Solar System to check understanding of scientific concepts about space.
This lesson is part of a science scheme of work to get the children to describe the movement of the Earth, and other planets, relative to the Sun in the Solar System by using practical models and researching information. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
