Lesson Five – Bible Prayers

This religious education teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explore and record how some of the teachings in the Old Testament as part of the Bible can be illustrated through different prayers recited by Christians.
The class can identify the meaning and significance of a prayer from the Book of Psalms by recording what Christians might say about how to follow the guidelines.

Activities in this teaching pack include a display poster to explain the meaning of vocabulary in a prayer from the Old Testament, worksheets to define and record the meaning of vocabulary used in a prayer from the Old Testament and a template to annotate a prayer from the Bible to explain the meaning of different vocabulary words.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how some of the teachings in the Old Testament in the Christian Bible can be illustrated through different prayers.
This lesson is part of a religious education scheme of work to get the children to explore the structure, special stories and significant characters that feature in different books that are part of the Old Testament. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
