Lesson Five – Islamic Year

This religious education teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explain and illustrate how and why Muslims celebrate special times of the year when following and observing beliefs and practices of the Islamic religion.
The class can research and record how Muslims can observe and celebrate one special festival that occurs during the Islamic year such as Eid-ul-Fitr.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the main festivals that occur in the Islamic religion and a set of cards and differentiated templates to support writing an explanation about how and why Muslims celebrate special times of the year when following the Islamic religion.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how and why Muslims celebrate special times of the year when following the Islamic religion.
This lesson is part of a religious education scheme of work to get the children to explore some of the different traditions, stories, beliefs and practices that Muslims follow and adopt when practising the Islamic religion. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
