This languages teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise learning and using French vocabulary to describe some of the different riders and competition stages in the world’s biggest cycle race.

The class can produce database record cards naming rides and stages in the race and label a map to show the route of the race around France.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to learn vocabulary to name the different jerseys worn by Tour de France race leaders, a set of cards to identify and match vocabulary words connected to different objects that are part of the race and worksheets to select and record information about the riders, stages and route in the Tour de France race.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to use French vocabulary to describe some of the different riders and competition stages in the world’s biggest cycle race.

This lesson is part of a languages scheme of work to get the children to practise speaking and writing French vocabulary words and phrases to describe some different sports and games. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
