Wartime Families

This history scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to research and illustrate how family life in Britain changed during the Second World War including evacuation and changing roles and responsibilities. The class can compose letters and diaries to recount the experiences of evacuated children during the war.

Lesson Two : Evacuee Letter

Lesson Three : War Diary
Investigate and record how to write a diary entry to describe some of the changes that were experienced by the British population during the Second World War

Lesson Four : Overseas Evacuation
Explore and record how and why some members of a British family were evacuated overseas during the Second World War to other countries

Lesson Five : Changing Britain
Explore, describe and record how family life in Britain changed in some different ways following the impact of the events that occurred during the Second World War
