Lesson Five – Flag Fen

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise different ways of learning about the life in the Bronze Age by using archaeological findings of artefacts left behind in prehistoric Britain.

The class can compose and present reports to describe the construction and usage of an artefact that might have been found at a Bronze Age site named Flag Fen.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe life in the Bronze Age, a shared reading text to explain some of the different ways that historians and archaeologists find out about the past and a template to select and record information about a replica artefact from the Bronze Age.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore different ways of learning about the life in the Bronze Age using archaeological findings.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to research and illustrate how life in Britain developed and changed during the Bronze Age including the growth of communities and trade. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
