Lesson Four – Road Improvements
This geography teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explain and model how to compile a list of possible improvements that could be made to a road close to the school to make it safer for pedestrians.
The class can practise conducting a survey to collect information about some of the proposed changes to the local area and suggest reasons for or against its development.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explain and model how to compile a list of possible improvements that could be made to a road close to the school to make it safer for pedestrians
Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify arguments for and against an environmental improvement to the local area to improve road safety and a template to collect and record evidence to identify an improvement that could be made to road safety in the local environment.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to compile a list of possible improvements that could be made to a road close to the school to make it safer.
This lesson is part of a geography scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare some of the different traffic hazards and dangers that can be encountered when making journeys in the local area. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
