Lesson Four – Italian Penpal

This geography teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise composing and presenting a reply to a letter from an Italian penpal to explore life in Italy and make comparisons to similar aspects of life in the United Kingdom.

The class can investigate and record how some different aspects of life in Italy are the same or different to other places such as shopping, schooling and entertainment.

Activities in this teaching pack include a display poster to identify and describe a location found in the European country of Italy, a shared reading text to explore daily life in Italy from an example letter from a penpal and a template to format and structure a letter to find out about life in Italy to compare with the UK.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to write a reply to a letter from an Italian penpal to explore life in the Italy and make comparisons to the United Kingdom.

This lesson is part of a geography scheme of work to get the children to explore and record how cities and other locations in Italy are physically and politically the same or different from similar places in the United Kingdom.
