Unit C – Robots and Adventures

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate the text structures and content of explanations and recounts and plan and write matching texts, explore and use spellings of words with cious and tious word endings and use colons to mark the boundary between sentence clauses.

Lesson One : Word Corrections
Identify and record how to use the correct spellings for words with cious or tious suffix endings in example sentences for an explanation about how robots work and function when completing tasks

Lesson Two : Robot Tasks
Explain and model how to plan and write an example explanation to illustrate how and why a robot might complete a specific task or job in a family home

Lesson Three : Mountain Expedition
Identify and record some of the different parts of a recount text that can support a range of matching viewpoints about its content and structure

Lesson Four : Expedition Recount
Identify and describe how to compose and present an example fictional recount describing what happened during an expedition to a dangerous location

Lesson Five : Sentence Colons
Practise using and punctuating colons correctly in example sentences to link independent clauses or introduce a list in a special type of non-fiction writing
