Unit A – Story Structures

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate the common structures and features of different types of stories and poems, practise adding suffixes to different word roots and use commas to punctuate sentences by reading fantasy stories, science fiction texts, fables and classic poetry.

Lesson Two : Story Characters

Lesson Three : Sentence Commas
Explain and model how to use commas to add a range of different phrases and clauses to sentences from a science fiction story

Lesson Four : Story Fables
Select and record comprehension questions to show understanding of the structure and vocabulary used in different fables that provide the reader with moral lessons

Lesson Five : Poetry Questions
Select and answer a range of different comprehension questions to illustrate the themes and ideas that are presented in a classic poem by Emily Dickinson
