Family Holidays

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to identify and record how to compose and publish recounts using adverbials of time and place to describe family holidays to different places in the world. The class can suggest how families might respond to different scenarios that could occur on a holiday.

Holiday Weather
Practise composing a recount to describe different types of weather patterns in countries around the world that might be experienced on a family holiday

Camping Trip
Explain and model how to write a diary entry about a camping trip to a special location using adverbials of place to structure the events and describe nouns in a recount

Summer Trips
Practise writing and publishing recounts of different events and experiences that could occur during a family summer holiday to somewhere special in the world

Decimal Changes
Identify and record changes to place value when multiplying and dividing decimals and whole numbers by ten, one hundred and one thousand

Triangle Angles
Investigate, record and compare the matching properties of different types of triangle shapes including their sets of right, acute and obtuse angles

Robots and Adventures
Investigate the text structures and content of explanations and recounts and plan and write matching texts

Story Fables
Explore and describe some of the different characters settings and events that can feature in traditional fables that teach the reader a moral lesson
