Family Holidays

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to identify and record how to compose and publish recounts using adverbials of time and place to describe family holidays to different places in the world. The class can suggest how families might respond to different scenarios that could occur on a holiday.

Holiday Weather
Practise composing a recount to describe different types of weather patterns in countries around the world that might be experienced on a family holiday

Camping Trip
Explain and model how to write a diary entry about a camping trip to a special location using adverbials of place to structure the events and describe nouns in a recount

Summer Trips
Practise writing and publishing recounts of different events and experiences that could occur during a family summer holiday to somewhere special in the world

Rounding Hundreds
Explain and model how to round some different numbers to the nearest hundred based on the place values of the digits in each number

Identify and record how to round some different numbers to the nearest ten based on the place values of the digits in each number

Classic Animal Stories
Investigate the structure and content of classic works of fiction by significant authors with animals as the main characters

Cities, Towns and Villages
Research and present the history of a range of different buildings and people that are part of the local community using a school exhibition
