Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe figurative language used by a poet to express ideas about love in a poem by a significant poet, a set of cards to convert different similes into metaphors to describe love as preparation for writing a poem on the same theme and a worksheet for support ability levels to select figurative language to complete different example similes on the theme of love.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to select similes and metaphors to create descriptive images that can be used in poetry describing love.
