Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify a range of different skills that can be utilised when working with other pupils in the class, a worksheet to assess skills in working with classmates to use when setting targets for the forthcoming year and a template to record a set of instructions to show the the best ways of working with classmates to outline possible targets.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to compose a set of instructions about how to be a good friend in terms of personal, social and academic skills and abilities.

This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to select and compose sets of instructions for pupils to follow in a school to make improvements to their learning, work and behaviour. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
