Lesson Two – Sport Actions

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify vocabulary words that have been used to describe actions and movements connected to competing in an Olympic sport and differentiated sets of cards to select and record how to add the suffix ing to different word roots that can be used to describe sports.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore and record changes to the spelling and meaning of word roots following the addition of the suffix ing.

This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to select vocabulary and rhythm structures to compose and perform rap poems describing actions and events connected to different Olympic sports. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
