Lesson Two – Sport Actions

This English teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise selecting and converting a range of special words between the past and present tense to describe some of the special actions and movements that can be connected to different sports.
The class can select and model how to use words with the suffixes ed and ing in sentences to describe some different Olympic sports and games.

Activities in this teaching pack include a worksheet for core and extension ability levels to record how to convert words between the past and present tense using the suffixes ing and ed and a set of cards for support ability levels to identify and match sets of words written in the past and present tense using the suffixes ing and ed and a template to model how to use words in the past and present tense by adding the suffixes ing and ed to describe Olympic sports.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to convert words between the past and present tense to describe actions connected to different sports.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to read and write sets of instructions choosing vocabulary words and sentence structures for clarity about how to become successful at an Olympic sport. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
