Lesson Six – Data Functions

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to identify and record how data about the weather can be used for a range of different functions and applications.

The class can design and build flow charts to model how weather data can be utilised for a specific function such as warning about heavy rainfall or a day of high temperatures.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to teach the children to identify and record how data about the weather can be used for a range of different functions and applications

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe how a set of data could be monitored and used for a specific purpose and templates to design and build flowcharts to show how a set of data about the weather could be monitored and used.

The interactive presentation gets the children to identify and record how data about the weather can be used for a range of different functions and applications.

This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to investigate how to use different forms of technological sensors to record, monitor and present weather information and data. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
