Lesson Three – Spreadsheet Data

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise entering, formatting and organising data and information about a range of volcanoes found around the world using a spreadsheet.
The class can collect and enter information into different fields in the database to present facts about volcanoes such as the date of their last eruption and height in metres.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to practise entering, formatting and organising data and information about a range of volcanoes found around the world using a spreadsheet
Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify different questions that a set of data could answer about a specific topic, an example database to explore how to format and organise a spreadsheet to store data about volcanoes and a worksheet to prepare a spreadsheet database to store information and data about different volcanoes found around the world.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to enter, format and organise data and information about volcanoes found around the world using a spreadsheet.
This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to explore how to use databases to store, organise and interrogate data about different volcanoes that can be found in locations and communities around the world. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
