Viking Pots
This art and design scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to develop and refine art and design techniques when working with clay to make pots that represent Viking culture and traditions. The class can create and decorate clay thumb pinch pots which could be used by the Vikings.

Lesson Two : Viking Art
Investigate how to research and illustrate examples of some of the special shapes and patterns that have been used on a range of different Viking artefacts
Lesson Three : Clay Impressions
Investigate and practise using some of the tools and equipment that can be used to create different shapes and patterns when working in clay
Lesson Four : Pinch Thumb Pot
Explain and model how to design and make a clay pot adding different patterns and shapes to represent Viking culture and traditions
Lesson Five : Viking Designs
Explore how to select and paint a range of different patterns on modelled clay pots to represent Viking culture and traditions from the past
Lesson Six : Viking Pot Reviews
Investigate how to review completed clay pot constructions and decorations using a set of chosen success criteria to identify changes and improvements
