Lesson Five – Body Parts

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to use sketching skills and techniques to draw different parts of the human body to represent the artwork style of Leonardo da Vinci.
The class can explain and model how to use weighted lines and shaded textures to record accurate sketches of a part of the human body that could be used as preparation for a painting or sculpture.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe techniques used by an artist when sketching and painting the human body and a worksheet to practise drawing techniques when sketching different parts of the body.
The interactive presentation gets the children to identify and explain how to use weighted lines and shading textures to sketch a part of the human body.
This lesson is part of a art and design scheme of work to get the children to develop sketching skills and techniques when drawing parts of the human body by investigating drawings and paintings produced by Leonardo da Vinci.
