Christmas Shapes

This art and design scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate and model how to use different materials and art techniques to make decorations to celebrate Christmas. The class can research colours, shapes and patterns used in other decorations to develop ideas for their own artwork.

Christmas Beads
Combine and manipulate sets of beads to design and make hanging decorations to show a selection of shapes that can represent Christmas

Holly Wreath
Practise different ways of shaping and joining a range of materials to produce a Christmas wreath decoration that can be hung on the classroom door

Christmas Star
Design and make hanging tree decorations by combining strips of foils with other materials to make a selection of different star shapes

Snowflake Prints
Practise different ways of printing repeating patterns of snowflake shapes and designs that can be used for paper to wrap Christmas presents

Investigate the structure and content of classic works of fiction by significant authors with animals as the main characters

Cities, Towns and Villages
Research and present the history of a range of different buildings and people that are part of the local community using a school exhibition
