Easter Celebrations

This religious education scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to identify, describe and illustrate how people can demonstrate and celebrate beliefs about God through religious celebrations at Easter. The class can make cards and models to show some of the special ways that Easter can be celebrated.

Lesson One : Special and Ordinary Days
Identify, describe and compare some of the different types of religious and non-religious events and celebrations that occur at different times of the year

Lesson Two : Special Things
Investigate and record the meaning of a range of religious and non-religious artefacts that can used for different purposes by families

Lesson Three : Special Gifts
Identify, describe and record some of the different gifts that can be given on special occasions and celebrations between members of a family

Lesson Four : Palm Sunday
Explore and describe a story from the Bible about the Easter story to identify how religious beliefs can be expressed through symbols and shapes

Lesson Five : Celebrating Easter
Investigate, describe and record some of the different ways that Christians celebrate Easter to remember the life of Jesus

Lesson Six : Easter Garden
Design and produce a model to explore some of the different symbols and shapes that can be used to represent what happened at Easter

Identify, match and record the initial sounds that have been used in a range of cvc words beginning with different letters

Investigate and record how a selection of different toys and games that were owned by families have changed and developed over time

Subtraction Digits
Model and illustrate how to subtract pairs of single digit numbers within ten using concrete equipment and diagrams to support the subtraction calculations
